Is it summer yet?

A beautifully bustled wedding dress, a pretty bridesmaid, a wedding dress that “doesn’t fit” to beautiful corset, a custom “Warden” hoodie, and BEARS!!!! Plus, creating product for “The Homestead Store” in Belle Fourche, an artisnal treasure-trove of breads, meats, eggs, milk and a whole store of specialty items. Check them out at 1853 5th Avenue, Belle Fourche.

It has been a hugely busy spring season. Going from prom directly into wedding alterations means my closet has been full of wedding/MOB/bridesmaid and other wedding related apparel in my “to-do” closet. Still three wedding dresses, a “going-away” jumpsuit and several other related items. ANDDDD there’s still several projects that have been on the back burner for a while. Time to get-r-dun!

And the ripped JEANS!!! Piles and piles! A coat, a specialized hoodie and new fittings loom on the horizon. So–if you have something you want done–call soon. 605-644-6179.

Life is sometimes crazy!

Tis PROM season, which morphs into wedding season, which means BOB is BUSY!!! At one point already in March I had 7 dresses lined up, either waiting, in progress or finished.
Today I have three formals, one bridesmaid dress and one wedding dress with several other projects in line.

And bears!!! Crazy amount of bears! And now starting aprons (for a new business opening) and stuffed broncs. Purple ones! More on that later.

Come visit us at bitsofblessingsstudio.com and see what’s new, exciting and all the things we can do for you!

FALL: We’re still busy!

BOB is still clicking on all cylinders! Even though the wedding season is starting to wind down–we have just one more before the end of the year (at least for now). But the tooth fairy pillows, bears and mascot squishies are ramping up! Yep–I said squishies. I’ll be posting photos of those just as soon as we’re done with the first few. I have 13 bears from a family in South Carolina to create from grandpa’s old shirts. What a way to remember our loved ones who have gone on before. I’ll be posting photos of those–but not till after the recipients get them. Don’t want to spoil the surprise.

Also–if your favorite stuffy needs some repair–call us. We can probably figure out a way to fix that special stuffed character.

And don’t forget the t-shirt quilt! We can create one out of your favorite t-shirts. See the photo below for an example of what it will look like!

See you soon! Enjoy BOB’s and if we’ve helped you–leave a response on our review page at

Crazy days!!

Things have been a bit hectic around BOBS. Trying unsuccessfully to find a notebook that has recorded customer contact info has been top of the list. Finally, I reconstructed everything except one and will contact that person today. Meanwhile, I’ve been cranking out the finished alterations, including two suit jackets, several dresses, a bunch of work pants/shirts and even fixed an apron for the Nisland/Arpan Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary after they found one with a loose tie at their annual brisket feed fundraiser!

And the contacts keep coming in–three just yesterday. Will be meeting soon to do a fitting for a MOB (mother of the bride) dress, a wedding dress and several other alteration projects. Keep ’em coming!

Here’s a photo display of recent alteration projects.

We’ve been busy!

WORKING IN THE HEAT! – 7/26/24

August is nearly upon us but the heat is already happening. The grass crunches when we walk and the grasshoppers are flying. We’ve been spending time in the swimming pool and trying to stay cool. And that’s a little difficult right now since the AC went down here at BOBS!

We were blessed with window AC units by friends and placing one in the bedroom where we sleep and one in my work/sewing room has meant I can keep working on the many projects. They just keep pouring in. I am still thanking God and friends and acquaintances who share my contact information with others who then contact me. And thus another project is in the works in the BOBS workroom. Some things give me pause as I try to figure out just how to “fix” a problem and make it look beautiful at the same time. That happened just this week as a friend brought a bridesmaid dress that needed a “high slit” sewn down. Thankful she had some purchased fabric and we will create a new “wrinkle” to solve her problem.

I have also been working on a remodel project which started with a blessing by winning a room makeover of $1000 from Berkshire Hathaway Midwest Realty and a great broker, Cheri St. Pierre. That got it started on a big kitchen remodel, with painting cupboards, new countertops and backsplash and “fixing” some problems that have been an issue for 20 years. But with no AC in the actual living area, that makes for toasty projects. This morning I removed all the ceramic edge tile, the underlying boards and the tile backsplash around the counters. About 40 feet of it. I was hot to say the least. So now, I’m going to go hop in the swimming pool.

Enjoy these hot summer days.

What’s Happening at BOBS!

WORD OF MOUTH! – 7/15/24

My mom always said, “The best advertising is word of mouth.” I learned throughout my childhood that was so true. She was a creative, funny, hard-worker, but was tenacious when it came to accomplishing what she was asked to do.

Since is the first blog post on my brand-new website, I thought I would credit both her and my dad for my work ethic, attention to detail and my own tenacity—especially when it comes to providing a service for my customers!

I LOVE to sew. If you can’t figure that out by perusing this website maybe these words will encourage you. Most all of my projects for people have been provided by someone contacting me after someone else told them what I did for them.

One customer, who I met with briefly, handed over a large bolt of golden satin fabric and a rough sketch of her plan. Together, we creatively came up with a “how-to” design and much later, with some frustration and hair-pulling, the project came to fruition. It was beautiful! I wasn’t the one to say that, but between me and my co-worker Anna C., we came up with a plan, made some tweaks, and created the inside of a beehive!! Actually, it was a playhouse for the children of a beekeeper! Fun!

Over the years I have had constant contact with people who said, “I heard from someone else that you might be able to do this for me.” Recently, an earlier customer who had a project of some wool pillow shams called to ask if I could hem a few pairs of pants for her daughter. It turned out to be 12 pair! Wow, but we got it done and her daughter is happy with her pants. So YES, as promised in the comment section of this website—I WILL hem your pants, or take them in a bit, or let them out. I will alter dresses, suit coats, drapes, etc., etc.

And I (we) will create all sorts of custom solutions to projects and ideas you have in mind. PLEASE, share our info by word of mouth. It’s the best advertising there is.

PS: Thanks to all our current customers who have placed their faith and trust in us.
